The dirt on Rochester jobs
There is great euphoria about the stock market and what it has done in 2009. There was complete panic at the beginning of the year and as the S&P approach 600 people were really getting desperate. But then something miraculous happened. People started to see that the world was not ending and that the economic doomsday scenario was not going to happen. There were small signs that recovery was happening, in the job market and other places. And even in Rochester, the reporters were talking about Rochester jobs and how things might be getting better.
So what really happened for Rochester jobs in 2009 Did the recovery, in the second half of the year as people predicted? Not really. It seems that the unemployment rate has stayed fairly high despite the efforts to try to improve the economy by both the national and local governments. I know that Rochester jobs are still hard to come by and there are lines out the door at most staffing centers of people looking for work.
Many people are accepting part-time work when it would've only taken full-time work a few years ago. Again this is because the job market is so tight in Rochester. And nationally the number of hours worked per week has been falling for a retail time. So as the stock market was celebrating a great rebound in 2009 the unemployment rate continued to rise and people were looking for jobs and could not find them. The pundits started talking about jobless recovery for the economy as what would happen in 2010. But this is fairly counterintuitive. With mortgage defaults rising and unemployment on the rise it is hard to believe that it would be such a thing as a jobless recovery.
